Founded in 1987, MIHI has been actively involved in making recreation accessible for those of all abilities throughout our quad-state region.
Beginning with a campaign to replace picnic tables in many of our state, city, and county parks, MIHI's vision expanded rapidly, making a dramatic impact in improving the overall quality of life of our citizens.
In addition to MIHI's focus on improved accessibility in our parks, the organization has sponsored "challenge" baseball and bowling for children with disabilities, underwritten the cost of accessible grandstand seating at the Federal Little League facility in Hagerstown, constructed fishing piers at Devil's Backbone Park in Washington County, and enhanced pathways at Star Community Lake.
MIHI has sponsored fishing tournaments for seniors and those with disabilities, beginning in 2001 events at Star Community and the City of Hagerstown's Pangborn Park.
